Ethnicity matters

Patients are most likely to match donors who share the same ethnic background because genetic traits used to determine a match are inherited.

Your healthy blood stem cells can be a cure for someone with sickle cell anemia, blood cancer, or other deadly diseases.

Likelihood of finding a matching donor

The children’s jerseys show the percentages of likelihood that a person of a specific ethnic background will find a matching donor. Our aim is to make the outcome equal for all.

We are committed to equal outcomes for all and invite you to help us by allowing us to present information on blood stem cell donation to your organization, class, or group.
