Who qualifies for a free parking pass?

Free parking is available for families of pediatric patients age 18 or younger who are receiving care in:

  • Burn Treatment Center
  • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital Inpatient Units
  • (Levels 3, 6, 9, 10, 11)
  • Infusion/Dialysis Center (Level 2)

How do I get a free parking pass?

The staff in the Burn Treatment Center, NICU, PICU, inpatient unit, or outpatient clinic where your child receives infusion therapy or dialysis treatment will review your child’s electronic medical record to determine if a parking pass can be issued at that time. If approved, they will give you your parking pass.

Where can I park with the free pass?

The parking passes will be valid for Hospital Parking Ramps 1, 2, 3, and 4 and the surface lot next to the UI College of Dentistry building. The pass cannot be used for valet parking.

What if my child is a long-term patient? Do I have to get a parking pass every day?

If you are continually parked in a ramp, one pass will cover your full stay. There is a limit of one free exit per day. If you leave the ramp and return at a later time that same calendar day, you will receive our lowest parking rate. The Patient Parking Voucher will ensure you receive the lowest hourly rate with a maximum daily charge of $10.

What if I lose my ticket/sticker? Can I get another one to exit the ramp?

Lost ramp tickets are subject to the maximum daily rate, which is $10 with our Patient Parking Voucher. We offer one free exit per day.

What if our family traveled in separate cars? Will both parents be able to get a free pass to stay with their child?

One parking pass will be provided to each family per calendar day. This will allow for one free exit per calendar day. Additional cars can take advantage of the Patient Parking Voucher, which gives you a lower rate than if you didn't have a voucher.

Do I need to bring my parking ticket with me?
