Course Description

The American Geriatrics Society (AGS) and the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) have partnered to bring you Geriatric Education for Emergency Medical Services (GEMS).

The GEMS course is designed to address all of the special needs of the older population, including the geriatric objectives within the National Standard Curricula for EMS and for the National Registry Refresher course.

Continuing Education

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Continuing Education

The University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics EMSLRC will award 8 hours of continuing education for EMS providers with 100 percent attendance at the GEMS for BLS course and 12.5 hours for GEMS for ALS.

Full-time attendance is required.

Nursing Continuing Education

The University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics EMSLRC does not award Nursing CE for this course.
