IVF financial considerations
The cost of an IVF cycle is dependent upon several factors, such as type of procedure and medications used.
As part of your preliminary appointment, you will meet with our financial counselor who will help you determine the financial costs for your individual situation. We offer financing through the Green State Credit Union. Ask our staff about our financing program.
Many insurance companies provide at least partial coverage. However, you are responsible for contacting your insurance carrier to discuss whether IVF procedures and medications are covered under your contract.
If your insurance does not cover IVF treatment, you may want to consider the Iowa Warranty Program. UI Health Care also has a financing program with Green State Credit Union.
IVF Iowa Warranty Program
The IVF Iowa Warranty Program, also referred to as the IOWarranty Program, is an option to financially assist patients who do not have IVF insurance. Patients must medically qualify before electing to use this program.
This program limits your financial risk, and is based on a "warranty" against not getting pregnant, not a guarantee of pregnancy and delivery. If your IVF cycle is not successful, a significant portion of your money is refunded.
There is an upfront payment that covers the medical treatment related to a standard fresh IVF cycle. Medication fees are not included in the Iowa Warranty program.
- Upfront payment for patients treated at the Iowa City clinic: $18,250
- Upfront payment for patients treated at the Davenport clinic: $16,500
If the IVF fresh cycle is successful and results in a viable pregnancy, then there is no refund.
If the fresh cycle does not result in a viable pregnancy, you can come back for a frozen cycle utilizing the embryos from the fresh retrieval at no additional cost. If the IVF frozen cycle is successful and results in a viable pregnancy, then there is no refund.
For patients treated at the Iowa City clinic, if all embryos have been utilized and there is not a viable pregnancy, then the amount refunded will be based on age:
- Age 34 and under: $14,500
- Age 35-37: $13,500
- Age 38-39: $12,500
For patients treated at the Davenport clinic, if all embryos have been utilized and there is not a viable pregnancy, then the amount refunded will be based on age:
- Age 34 and under: $14,220
- Age 35-37: $13,220
- Age 38-39: $12,220
