Pledge to Protect Your Heart

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in both men and women in the United States. It is also one of the most preventable. During American Heart Month, you’re invited to make a difference in your health and implement heart-healthy behaviors to reduce your risk for heart disease.

I pledge to:

  • Ask my doctor if I should take an aspirin every day.
  • Find out if I have high blood pressure and/or cholesterol and get effective treatment.
  • If I smoke, get help to quit.
  • Get moving  by being physically active for at least 30 minutes on most days of the week.
  • Make my calories count by eating a heart-healthy diet including fresh fruits and vegetables and low in sodium and trans fat.
  • Make sure I follow my physician’s prescription instructions.
