Lori Kuester, NRP

EMS Educator, Full Time Instructor


Lori Kuester is an Instructional Services Specialist in the Emergency Medical Services Learning Resource Center (EMSLRC). Lori started her EMS career in 1981 as an EMT with the Algona Ambulance Service. In her six years there she was also a CPR instructor.

In 1987, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri and worked for the next 29 years at MAST Ambulance and then the Kansas City Fire Department as an EMT and paramedic before retiring in 2016. She was an instructor for BLS, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, BTLS, and CEU classes. She was a field preceptor for EMTs and paramedics. She has been a state licensed paramedic in Missouri, Kansas, and Iowa. She has been nationally registered for over 30 years. She is also an EMS evaluator for the state of Iowa.

Lori is a member of the National Association of EMTs and Iowa Emergency Medical Services Association. She is also a national EMS educator.

She joined the EMSLRC in August of 2018, and coordinates and approves continuing education hours for many of the EMS agencies across the state of Iowa. She also helps teach the EMT and Paramedic programs as well as ACLS, BLS, and PALS courses.

Lori married Charlie Kuester in 2019. They have two children, Dawn and Ryan who is married to his wife Dawn, and three grandchildren, Jude, Ashleigh, and Andrew. Lori and Charlie also have two dogs, Jake and Emma.
