UI Hospitals & Clinics patients participate in the 2016 Transplant Games

An organ donation is truly a gift of life, and thirteen University of Iowa Organ Transplant Center patients showed that their stories didn't end at donation or transplant...they were just beginning. While the University of Iowa Organ Transplant Center has performed over 5,000 life-changing transplants, we can't do it alone. Our UI patients and donors joined athletes from across the state to compete together as Team Iowa under the leadership of the Iowa Donor Network at the Donate Life Transplant Games.

Rising from tragedy

Late one winter Sunday morning, Bruce Brockway and his 10-year-old son Garrett began cleaning up trees and brush that littered the woodsy backyard of their Burlington home. They planned on a few hours of work thanks to a windstorm from a couple of days earlier. But in one unthinkable moment, the Brockway family’s life changed forever.
