University of Iowa Health Care leaders today issued an urgent request for Iowa businesses and individuals to donate new or used protective face shields to the hospital. The shields are used by hospital staff to keep employees safe and help prevent the spread of the new coronavirus COVID-19.
As announced by the governor tonight, Johnson County has seen its first patient to have COVID-19 from community-acquired transmission. That patient is currently in isolation in the care of University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City. This means that other patients are kept at a safe distance, and those caring for this individual are properly protected.
To protect the health of our patients and their families, University of Iowa Health Care will screen all patients and visitors at our hospital entrances.
