Recreation Therapy

Various Activities and Treatments Enhance the Quality of Life for Patients by Maintaining and Increasing Their Psychosocial and Physical Well-being.

Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists (CTRS) use interventions to:

  • Develop self-esteem
  • Foster successful experiences
  • Promote skill development
  • Promote healthy lifestyle choices
  • Reduce anxiety and depression
  • Develop coping and stress management skills

Interventions include:

  • Health and wellness through yoga, weightlifting, meditation, and taichi
  • Creative expression through painting, music, and cooking/baking
  • Community integration through the utilization of parks, book stores, libraries, and museums
  • Socialization through group games and current events

The program provides services to children, adolescents, adults, and the geriatric population. Programming is provided through both individual and group sessions.

Our CTRS plan and implement a recreation therapy program that forms an integral part of the patients' overall treatment programs. They play a significant role in the multidisciplinary team on each unit, which involves physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, nursing staff, social services, physical therapists, and pharmacists.

Therapy Services are Available For:
