The Signal Center for Health Innovation continues to add hospitals and clinics to telemedicine pilots and programs. The number of UI Health Care specialty services available via telemedicine will also increase as more specialty areas begin to deliver services through technology.

Connecting Emergency Departments

Six regional hospitals in Iowa are now equipped to directly contact UI Hospitals and Clinics and UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital specialists for emergency consultations right in their emergency rooms. The hospitals are:

Specialized Stroke Care

Three regional hospitals have added to their resources for treating local residents in the first minutes of having a stroke. They are connected to stroke specialists at UI Hospitals and Clinics, who offer real-time consultation through a secure video and data connection. The hospitals are:

University of Iowa Health Care delivers its eHealth solutions to Iowa hospitals through a number of agreements and partnerships.

Critical Access Hospitals

UI Hospitals and Clinics is proud to be at the hub of a consortium of 10 Iowa non-profit hospitals, a network designed to enhance access and provision of quality health care services in rural communities. Read more.

Clinical Outreach Services

UI Health Care physicians and nurses visit more than 40 communities offering more than 30 specialty clinics in local health care centers. These outreach clinics supplement and support the care already received by patients within their local health care system. Read more.

University of Iowa Health Alliance

The University of Iowa Health Alliance (UIHA) includes more than 50 hospitals and more than 160 physician clinics. Its members include Genesis Health System, Mercy-Cedar Rapids, Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-Iowa, and University of Iowa Health Care. Read more.
