Social Service Continuing Education Program

Each month the Department of Social Service offers a variety of stimulating continuing education programs for social workers who work in a health care setting.

These programs are all held at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics but, the time and place may vary. Please refer to the posted information for the latest program, time and place.

Social work continuing education programs for all UI Health Care staff are free of charge.

Social workers who are outside of UI Health Care who would like to attend our CEU program are welcome to do so. They may contact Anna Hernandez at or 1-319-467-5368 prior to the event to register. The cost is $10 per continuing education hour. Certificates of Attendance will be emailed after the event.

Training Available on Video

The Department of Social Work has produced a two-hour video to train mandatory reporters in the recognition and reporting of child and dependent adult abuse. The Iowa Department of Public Health has approved this video as a means of fulfilling the two hours of mandatory reporter training required by Iowa law. The video can be ordered online for $299 from the UI Hospitals & Clinics Department of Social Service.
