Support and Spiritual Care

During your visit, and anytime before or after, you are welcome to contact the professionals in our support and spiritual care services.

Support Groups

Sometimes the best advice and emotional boost can come from others who have faced similar circumstances to yours. Dozens of our support groups connect people through conversation and peer counseling.

Spiritual Services

Your health and well-being can have a spiritual component. Our chaplains recognize the importance of faith in facing a health crisis, and they offer spiritual support, care, and counsel to assist you with spiritual issues related to your illness and hospitalization. To talk with a chaplain, please ask your nurse or a member of your health care team, or call (319) 356-2248.

Patient and Family-Centered Care

Our philosophy of patient- and family-centered health care informs how we approach the planning, delivery, and evaluation of your care.

Social Service

The UI Hospitals & Clinics Department of Social Service provides services to patients and their families, enabling them to make the best use of health care resources.

Worship Services

Religious services conducted at UI Hospitals & Clinics are open to patients, family, visitors, and staff.

Patient Rights and Advocacy

You have many rights and responsibilities as our patient. To share a concern or complaint, please contact any staff member or contact the Office of the Patient Experience at 1-319-356-1802.
