A Word from the Chief Pharmacy Officer

You are at a pivotal point in your career as you become a pharmacist or consider advanced training, so I am pleased you are considering the pursuit of your pharmacy residency at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.

An academic medical center like ours will immerse you in an environment charged with the excitement of learning and discovery. You’ll have rich opportunities caring for patients, conducting research, and adding experiences that will serve you throughout your career.

We have a long history and tradition of training pharmacy residents that dates back to 1949. Our team of leaders, residency directors, and preceptors are dedicated experts in residency training. Our residents learn from the best in the profession and see first-hand how their training can have a real and lasting impact in the lives of our patients and families.

It is a privilege to take care of patients and families. And that is our top priority. That culture of patient-centered care and service prepares our residents to be leaders in health care, not pharmacy alone.

I invite you to consider being part of a health care team that draws on the expertise of each member. Thank you for your interest in our programs, and we look forward to hearing from you and answering any questions you may have.
