The Iowa Model
Our unique vision and commitment to EBP led to establishing and copyrighting the internationally acclaimed Iowa Model Revised: Evidence-Based Practice to Promote Excellence in Health Care©.
The Iowa Model guides clinical decision-making and the EBP process from both a clinician and systems perspective. It is also the most frequently used EBP model in Magnet® hospitals.
Magnet®-designated organization
The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) awarded the 2014 Magnet Prize® to the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, recognizing the innovative use of EBP to positively impact patient care.
Evidence-based practice opportunities for nurses
Through a variety of innovative programs and mentoring opportunities, UI Health Care nurses can develop EBP skills and expertise to improve outcomes. As a UI Health Care nurse you can:
- Identify clinical problems and apply to participate in the EBP Staff Nurse Internship
- Be trained and recognized as an EBP Change Champion
- Connect with UI Health Care’s world-renowned EBP leaders for consultation, support, and resources
- Implement and maintain EBP changes using the Iowa Implementation for Sustainability Framework©
- Apply for a scholarship to attend the annual National EBP Conference
- Participate in an advanced EBP immersion program with nurses from across the U.S.
- Become an EBP mentor
