My favorite thing about being an oncology social worker is helping patients and families navigate one of the most difficult experiences of their lives. I joined Mission Cancer + Blood, part of UI Health Care because I wanted to be part of one of the best oncology programs in the state and help build the oncology social work role to its fullest potential. I enjoy working with patients because I know that even small acts of support can make a meaningful difference during the cancer journey. If I can make that journey just a little easier, that's a win for me. The gratitude and appreciation I receive from patients and caregivers is one of the most rewarding parts of my work. Mission Cancer + Blood, part of UI Health Care is special because of our ability to care for the whole person through a wide range of specialties and services, while allowing patients to receive much of that care closer to home. My passion for oncology comes from both personal and professional experience. Having seen cancer affect my own family and spent many years working in oncology, I understand how much the people who care for you matter. You never forget those who helped your loved one through a difficult time, and I am honored to provide that same support and compassion to others.
