A registered dietitian is available free of charge to all Mission patients.

Your dietitian will work with you to develop a nutrition plan tailored to your cancer diagnosis, treatment, symptoms, and individual needs. If you are interested in meeting with a dietitian, please talk with your doctor or nurse.

Why nutrition matters during cancer treatment

Good nutrition is an important part of cancer care. Eating well throughout treatment can help you:

  • Better tolerate cancer treatments
  • Maintain strength and energy
  • Improve quality of life during and after treatment
  • Support healing and recovery
How a registered dietitian can help

A registered dietitian can provide expert guidance on:

  • Evaluating your current nutritional status and dietary intake
  • Making personalized recommendations about what to eat during treatment
  • Addressing nutrition concerns and questions about foods, supplements, and special diets
  • Helping you manage treatment side effects through diet modifications
  • Supporting healthy weight maintenance, weight gain, or weight loss when appropriate
  • Developing meal strategies to meet your nutritional needs during treatment
  • Providing guidance on healthy eating after treatment to support long-term health and wellness
