Local educational services
For children 3 and older, school-based supports and services are determined by school-based teams that are familiar with your child, your district, and the things your child needs to learn.
Learn more about special education processes and your rights at the Iowa Department of Education IDEA Resource Page. Your child does not need to have a formal disability diagnosis to receive services at school, and not all children with disabilities need special education. Parents have a right to request an evaluation for special education.
If your child is under the age of 3, families can seek out Early Access services. You can find contact information and other important resources at the Iowa Department of Education site on Early Access.
