Trained interpreters provide real-time interpretation and translation services for patients who are non-English speaking or who have hearing impairments. Patients and families can use these services during clinic visits, hospital stays, or other communication with hospital staff.

Services We Offer

Our on-staff resources address the primary need for Spanish interpretation and use of American sign language. In addition, our program provides:

  • Real-time interpretation provided by trained interpreters for non-English speaking patients and the hearing impaired
  • Language bank of 22 interpreters in 12 languages
  • Video Relay Interpretation for American Sign Language
  • Overall facilitation for communication in the care setting

To use this translation resource, the clinic will call the interpreting office to get authorization. 

  • Available 24 hours a day
  • Cyracon phones are available by contacting the Telecommuniations Center (dial 0) or Social Services main office (6-2207)

Video Remote Interpretation (VRI)

  • Available on Voalte phones
  • Available on iPads in certain units, including:
    • Emergency Department
    • Labor and Delivery
    • Surgical Intensive Care
