Parte Incognita

In Latin, parte incognita means “the unknown.” In this work of art, the unknown is our own Iowa landscape. Many native Iowan plants like prairie grass, that once grew wild throughout our state, have been replaced by vast fields of corn or soybeans. The next time you plant a garden, consider adding some red osier dogwood, compass plants, or blue flag irises – all of which are native to Iowa.
