Since its identification in the late eighteenth-century, this celestial bird has been identified as a rock thrush, a dodo, a mockingbird, and an owl. Although it is no longer recognized as a constellation, this print commemorates its brief existence in the Southern Hemisphere's sky perched atop the end of the Hydra constellation's tail.
