Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU/Recovery Room)
You will wake up lying on your back. You will be in a hospital bed in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
The breathing tube will stay in your mouth and throat until your doctors feel it is safe to remove it. This is often the morning after surgery.
You will stay in the PICU until the doctors decide you are safe to go to your room on the pediatric unit..
You will have x-rays of your back soon after getting to the PICU.
A nurse will check your pain often. They will give you pain medicine to keep you comfortable.
