One of the tests that are done on a regular basis to check the kidneys and bladder is a renal ultrasound. The purpose of this test is to look for abnormalities of the urinary tract. A renal ultrasound is a painless test that uses sound waves to show the size, shape, and position of the kidneys. This test will check to be sure your child’s kidneys are growing and that there is no fluid backing up.
You may stay with your child during this test. There are no special diet or restrictions for this test.
