Since I work as a nurse here at University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital, Bex was born at UI Hospitals & Clinics. He had to get involved with some specialists at the children’s hospital due to a few small genetic defects. He also continued to see urology as he got older, and had surgery in October 2019.
Our experience working with all of these services was fantastic! There was always great communication and my questions were always answered. We have worked with urology the most out of all of Bex's services, and Dr. Doug Storm and his nurse, Lisa Gerard, were so wonderful!
When Bex had his surgical procedure in 2019, we were introduced to child life. This program is amazing. Bex loved all the interaction he got with the child life specialist, and he even got some very cool toys and Iowa gear from his new friend, Jodi. This was so great, especially because his surgery got pushed back. Trying to keep a toddler busy who hasn't eaten for 16 hours can be a challenge, so good thing we had some new things to play with.
We truly love this hospital and have received exceptional care! There is no place our family would rather be.
