Chronic pain – pain that is persistent – can affect individuals of any age.
University of Stead Family Children’s Hospital is home to Iowa’s only pediatric comprehensive pain services. The team of pediatric specialists includes a doctor, nurse practitioner, nurse, psychologist, social worker, and physical therapist, all specially trained to help children and young adults through age 21 with chronic pain. Our team partners with your child and family to provide a comprehensive, holistic, and individualized approach to pain management.
Our team focuses not only on treatment for pain, but also on the source of the pain and your child’s overall well-being, including:
- Complimentary and integrative medicine
- Evidence-based treatments using medication and minimally invasive procedures
- Physical therapy
- Psychological support
Pain can impact many parts of your child’s life, including:
- Daily activities
- Learning
