Designated a Level IV NICU by the AAP
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has designated the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Stead Family Children’s Hospital a Level IV NICU, which means we offer the highest level of medical care for premature and sick babies. Level IV NICUs provide the best overall health outcomes, expertise, resources and standards for care in a family-centered environment.

University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children's Hospital has been named a Cardiomyopathy Center of Care by the Children’s Cardiomyopathy Foundation (CCF), a national nonprofit committed to improving health outcomes and quality of life for children with cardiomyopathy. Stead Family Children's Hospital received this recognition for consistently providing high-quality cardiac care and specialized disease management for children with all forms of cardiomyopathy.

NPF Center by the National Pancreas Foundation
UI Health Care Stead Family Children’s Hospital is nationally recognized as an approved NPF Center by the National Pancreas Foundation—one of only 19 official pediatric centers in the country. An approved NPF Center has expert physician specialties such as gastroenterologists, pancreas surgeons, and interventional radiologists, along with more patient-focused programs such as a pain management service, psychosocial support, and more. NPF support helps promote research and education for children and adults diagnosed with pancreatitis.
