Ghost Prairie Study #3

Many Iowans think of the Iowa landscape as what we see today: rolling hills, quilt-like crop patterns, and a sprinkling of red barns, lush trees, and livestock. In this series of paintings, the artist pays tribute to the lost indigenous landscape of Iowa. Each panel is meant to evoke an image of the ghost prairie of wild flora and fauna that lived across our state before it became one of America’s great agricultural centers.
