For referral to speciality clinics, please review the following indications:
Diabetes clinic
- Fasting plasma glucose > 125 mg/dL (urgent referral if > 200)
- Random plasma glucose > 200 mg/dL (urgent referral if > 200)
- Symptoms of diabetes such as polyuria, polydipsia, polyphagia, weight loss
- HgbA1c >6.0% (urgent referral if >7.5%)

Lipid clinic
- LDL cholesterol > 150mg/dL or >130mg/dL if significant CVD risk factors
- Fasting Triglycerides > 200 mg/dL (Urgent referral if TG > 800mg/dL)
Polycystic ovarian syndrome clinic (PCOS)
- Oligo- or amenorrhea
- Signs of hyperandrogenism on exam
- Biochemical hyperandrogenism (if known)
- Accepting obese and Non-obese patients with concerns for PCOS
General endocrine clinic
- TSH >7mIU/L
- Concern for Cushing Syndrome
- Premature adrenarche or premature puberty
- Any other endocrine concerns (feel free to discuss with the Endocrine
service attending on call; non-urgent call our office at 319-356-4443;
