Sometimes children have to have painful medical procedures. Did you know more than 90 out of 100 children show distress from physical or emotional pain during routine immunizations and 63 out of 100 children say they have a fear of needles?
We want to help parents, children, and health care providers lessen the distress children have during painful procedures.
Distraction in Action was created by researchers from the University of Iowa College of Nursing and University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital with more than 20 years of experience in studying how children respond to pain during medical procedures. The team is composed of experts from the fields of nursing, psychology, child life, information technology, and parents.
