Evidence and facts prove that human milk is superior. Human milk feeding is a fundamental right for all infants. It is essential for the infant born premature. Human milk is unrivaled and has benefits that span a lifetime.
Donor human milk is accessible for infants in the hospital and at home from the Mother’s Milk Bank of Iowa. It is stored and shipped frozen. Each bottle contains 100 ml and is labeled with an expiration date. The shelf life is relatively long.
Pasteurized donor human milk (PDHM) dispensaries are agencies that order, store and dispense PDHM from the milk bank to area infants at home by prescription. Community dispensaries (see locations below) make PDHM more accessible to local families.
If you want to establish a PDHM dispensary in your community, email Jean Drulis or call at 1-319-356-2652.
