The excitement of a new Iowa football season began for our 2026 Kid Captains and their families during Kids' Day on Saturday, Aug. 15. Hosted by the Iowa Hawkeye football team in partnership with UI Health Care Stead Family Children's Hospital, the annual event welcomed Kid Captains, loved ones, and supporters to Kinnick Stadium for a memorable day of special access, new friendships, and unforgettable experiences. From exploring behind the scenes to meeting fellow Kid Captain families, the day offered plenty of reasons to celebrate.

Each Kid Captain will have their story highlighted during the 2025-26 Iowa football season, beginning on Saturday, Aug. 30.
Started in 2009 as a partnership between the University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children’s Hospital and the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Kid Captain program honors pediatric patients by celebrating their incredible stories.
