We first became involved with University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital in 2013 when Eli was 3 days old. We had gone to a Dubuque hospital and doctors discovered he had dangerously low blood sugar level of 18 – the normal is 45 or above. The doctors tried several things in Dubuque, but were unable to stabilize the levels, and Eli was immediately sent to Iowa City. We have been told several times that without UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital we would not have our amazing little guy. What UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital gave us I will never ever be able to repay them for that.
We loved everything about UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital. They were so helpful to us and went into great details on what they were going to do with Eli. We were first-time parents and were so worried about our baby. They laid out the plan and made us feel very comfortable. They were also so helpful with getting us settled into the Ronald McDonald House and later on the Helen Rossi Guest House. We couldn't have asked for a better hospital for our baby.
There are not enough words to say how great this hospital is. They are there for you in probably the worst time of your life. They make you feel somewhat calm in the situation and you know they will do anything and everything for your child.
