Downtown Campus- Information Desk Volunteer
Unit Description
UI Health Care Downtown Information Desk Volunteers are one of the first points of contact for patients in guests in the hospital. Duties include greeting and providing directional guidance, answering general hospital questions, locating patient room numbers, and provide high-quality customer service. Volunteers will need to have strong communication skills and be able to problem solve or know who to contact in an emergency situation.
Training
All Information Desk volunteers will attend a volunteer orientation, where they will receive University of Iowa Health Care volunteering information and then receive training about the information desk, which includes a tour of the hospital.
Uniform
The dress code for this unit is a Volunteer Services polo, khaki pants, and closed-toe shoes. Shirts are available for purchase at Wild Rose Gifts (University Campus, Main Entrance Lobby) Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Volunteers must follow the professional appearance policy, which includes wearing the volunteer badge at all times.
Hours Available
Two-hour shifts are available Sunday-Saturday from: 6-8 a.m., 8-10 a.m., 10 a.m.-Noon, Noon-2 .pm., 2-4 p.m., or 4-6 p.m.
