Mary Beth Fasano, MD, MPH, is a Clinical Professor in Allergy/Immunology with appointments in the Department of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. She did her fellowship training at Johns Hopkins Hospital in the Department of Pediatrics. After spending over a dozen years at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina she joined the faculty at the University of Iowa in 2004. She currently serves as the Program Director for the Allergy/Immunology Fellowship Program and served a 6-year term as a member of the ACGME Allergy/Immunology Review Committee (2014-2020). In addition to her leadership roles in graduate medical education, she serves as a Medical Consultant for Iowa's Newborn Screening Program for Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID) and as Chair of the Allergy/Immunology Clinical Teams Workgroup. She served on the American Board of Allergy & Immunology (ABAI) from 2008-2013 and continues her involvement as the ABAI liaison to the American Board of Pediatrics. She is a past-President of the Iowa Society of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology and will serve as President of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology in 2020-2021. Her clinical interests are broad and include asthma, allergies and immunodeficiency in both adult and pediatric patients.
