Commitment to healing earns Wound and Vein Center at downtown campus prestigious recognitions
Our downtown campus was recently recognized for clinical excellence in patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes.
The Wound and Vein Center at the UI Health Care Medical Center Downtown has long been a leader in wound care with a true dedication to helping give hope and healing to those with complicated and chronic wounds.
The Wound and Vein Center was recently honored with a Healogics President’s Circle Award, one of only 34 wound care centers recognized nationally, as well as the Robert A. Warriner III Clinical Excellence Award. Additionally, for the seventh year in a row, the center was named a Center of Distinction.
Kamal explains that the Wound and Vein Center sees patients with both acute and chronic wounds, most commonly in patients with diabetic foot ulcers, pressure wounds, radiation necrosis, venous leg ulcers and arterial (insufficiency) ulcers, as well as patients with non-healing acute wounds after trauma or surgery. He says, “Now, as we continue to integrate into the UI Health Care system, I’m excited to share more about our services with the broader provider audience, to give them additional access to modalities of treatment to help their patients recover from chronic and non-healing wounds.”
Kamal also shared that the recent transition to Epic for the downtown campus will also make it easier for all UI Health Care providers to refer patients to the clinic.
Nearly 7 million individuals in America are affected by chronic, non-healing wounds. For these individuals, everyday activities can be a battle. Without proper treatment, people may suffer for years without any improvement and specialized care for chronic wounds is essential for successful treatment. Wound and vein care specialists complete advanced training to be able to adequately diagnose potential underlying conditions contributing to the wound, and prevent more severe treatment options, such as amputation.
About the Healogics President's Circle Award
Each year, Healogics presents awards to the centers and practitioners that demonstrate continued and consistent commitment to excellence, and a focus on creating an exceptional patient experience.
The Wound and Vein Center at the downtown campus is a member of the Healogics network of more than 600 Wound Care Centers® and is the only one of its kind in Johnson County. It offers advanced outpatient treatments for patients suffering from chronic and non-healing wounds. Their approach includes access to a wide range of specialists and every patient is assigned a case manager to help provide continuity and a highly individualized treatment plan.
The Wound and Vein Center was featured on KCRG last year.
