Enhanced Cleaning Team ensures safety for patients and employees during the COVID-19 pandemic
In the time of COVID-19, we’ve all taken extra steps in our own lives to make sure that we’re keeping things safe and clean. We’re washing our hands more, cleaning high-touch surfaces at our workspace and at home more frequently. You might feel like you’re tired from all the extra cleaning.
But imagine keeping 5 million square feet clean, each and every day. That’s the role of our Environmental Services (EVS) team. They’ve been keeping us all safe and our spaces clean long before the COVID-19 pandemic began, and as our emphasis on safety sharpens, their role has become more important than ever.
A new team
That’s why in July of this year, a new team within EVS was assembled. As a part of the We Stand for Safety campaign, this Enhanced Cleaning Team is dedicated solely to keeping public spaces across our health care campus—like waiting rooms, hallways, and entries—extra clean. You might have seen this new staff sporting bright yellow vests and placing cleaning cards to let our staff and patients know that an area was recently cleaned.
As Glen Rogers, assistant director in EVS, explains, this dedicated team has helped make sure that our facilities are cleaned at a higher frequency.
This narrow focus of the Enhanced Cleaning Team helps reassure our patients and visitors that we’re taking extra measures to make sure their experience is the safest possible.
At a minimum, this team cleans every public space in our facilities twice a day.
And patients are noticing the difference.
In a recent Press Ganey survey, one such patient provided the following feedback, “I was hesitant to come inside the office because of COVID-19. EVERYONE made me feel safe, sanitize, and comfortable about being there. I will let all my friends know about the service here.”
For the team, it’s all about keeping people in our building safe.
