Kimberly Hunter will serve as interim CEO of UI Hospitals & Clinics

Kimberly Hunter, DNP, MBA, RN, NEA-BC has been named interim CEO of UI Hospitals & Clinics and interim associate vice president of UI Health Care starting March 1, 2022, following the departure of current CEO Suresh Gunasekaran, MBA.

Hunter joined UI Hospitals & Clinics nearly a year ago as chief nurse executive, bringing more than 30 years of health care management experience to the organization—including nearly 20 years collective experience at two of the nation’s top-ranked hospitals: Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic.

Gunasekaran will continue to lead UI Hospitals & Clinics through his departure at the end of February, working closely with Hunter to ensure a smooth transition. UI Health Care expects to launch a national search for the permanent CEO position once a new Vice President for Medical Affairs and Dean of the Carver College of Medicine has started.
