UI Health Care brings free blood pressure testing to Coral Ridge Mall shoppers
Holiday fun can distract you from paying attention to your own health and well-being. Parties, treats, travel, and other obligations often have us thinking more of others than of ourselves at this time of year. That’s why University of Iowa Health Care and Coral Ridge Mall are encouraging shoppers to take a moment to stop by the mall’s new Heart Check Center for a free blood pressure check.
The Heart Check Center is sponsored by UI Health Care and is available beginning Dec. 14 near the Coral Ridge Mall food court. It’s a free-standing kiosk featuring a state-of-the-art blood pressure monitor that gives clear, accurate results. There’s no waiting, and no appointment is necessary. It’s available any time the mall is open.
The test is quick, easy, noninvasive, and automatic. Place your arm in the testing cuff and follow the on-screen directions. It takes just two minutes. You’ll see your blood pressure reading and pulse rate right on the screen. You can even have the results sent directly to your email address so you can get back to your shopping without having to try to remember them.
The Heart Check Center gives systolic and diastolic blood pressure numbers and your body mass index (BMI), along with helpful information about UI Health Care programs and services that interest you.
If you have questions or concerns about your blood pressure, contact your primary care physician. New patients at the UI Heart and Vascular Center can see a cardiologist within 48 hours of calling for an appointment.
