UI Sleep Solutions opens at Iowa River Landing
UI Health Care Sleep Solutions has a new home in the Iowa River Landing district.
The newly relocated medical supply store offers a convenient, one-stop shop for high-quality sleep products and expert help for patients diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea.
“We’re excited to open this new store to help our customers and patients with their sleep needs,” says Danette Frauenholtz, director of UI Health Care Sleep Solutions. “Our staff provides a personal approach to ensure each individual is fitted and goes home with products that will give them a better night’s sleep.”
Obstructive sleep apnea is a disorder where the airway collapses during sleep, causing breathing to stop and restart repeatedly. Although sleep apnea is common, many people do not know they have the condition. The most noticeable signs of obstructive sleep apnea are excessive sleepiness and loud snoring, although not everyone who has the condition exhibits these symptoms.
A doctor who specializes in sleep medicine can diagnose sleep apnea and prescribe one of several sleep therapy devices that help maintain an open airway during sleep.
UI Health Care Sleep Solutions, which is located near the UI Sleep Disorders Clinic at UI Health Care–Iowa River Landing, provides these devices:
- Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP)
- Automatic positive airway pressure (APAP)
- Bi-level positive airway pressure (BiPAP)
- Other more specialized machines, as well as supplies and personalized fittings
Staff at UI Sleep Solutions provide education, training, and follow-up care for all sleep apnea-related products and supplies. They also work with a patient’s physician and insurance company to make sure a person’s sleep care is coordinated and affordable.
“When a person receives their diagnosis, our goal is to have them equipped and fitted with the appropriate device that same day, so that they can start using the therapy immediately,” Frauenholtz says.
The store is located at 901 E. 2nd Street, Suite 120 in Coralville and is open 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and after hours and weekends by appointment.
