Scott Vogelgesang is a Clinical Professor in Rheumatology. He completed his Rheumatology Fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. and joined the faculty at the University of Iowa in 1995.
He was the Internal Medicine residency program director from 2002 to 2014 and the Internal Medicine vice chair for education from 2005 to 2014. He has been the Chair of the UI Hospitals & Clinics Graduate Medical Education Committee since 2005 and continues within Graduate Medical Education as the Director for Continuous Accreditation Initiatives. He became director of the Division of Immunology-Rheumatology and Allergy in 2014.
His interests are very broad, including general internal medicine, general rheumatology, medical education, medical administration, and finance. Most recently, his clinical interests are focused on ocular inflammatory diseases (e.g. uveitis, scleritis, and others), their rheumatologic associations and the most appropriate immunosuppressive treatment.
