Pediatric Associates of Iowa City and Coralville joins UI Health Care

Pediatric Associates of Iowa City and Coralville, a general pediatric care private practice that has served eastern Iowa patients and families since 1974, will join University of Iowa Health Care.

By joining UI Health Care and UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital, we are ensuring that our patients and families will continue to have the same great access to general and specialty pediatric care for generations to come.”

Pediatric Associates of Iowa City and Coralville has long maintained a strong professional relationship with UI Health Care through pediatric specialty care services available at UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital, including Iowa’s highest-level neonatal intensive care unit and the state’s highest level of emergency care for critically ill and injured children.

The strength and expertise of both entities will complement each other, notes Raphael Hirsch, MD, physician-in-chief of UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital and chair and DEO of the UI Stead Family Department of Pediatrics.

“We are pleased that Pediatric Associates has chosen to join with the University of Iowa in this exciting new relationship,” Hirsch says. “This new arrangement strengthens our existing relationship and makes high-quality, comprehensive pediatric care services available to even more families throughout the area.”

Pediatric Associates is comprised of 12 board-certified pediatricians and nearly 70 clinical and administrative staff serving the practice’s two locations.

For families of current Pediatric Associates patients, the transition will be seamless, leaders from both organizations emphasize. Phone numbers at the Pediatric Associates locations will remain the same, and the practice’s physicians will continue to see patients at their current facilities. Pediatric Associates plans to maintain its existing relationships with other physician groups and hospitals in the Iowa City and Coralville area, as well as with specialists at UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
