Please plan ahead for prescription refills, lab work, and appointments, as some clinics and pharmacies may close early or operate with reduced availability around holidays.
Where to receive care on holidays
Even when some locations and clinics are closed for holidays, care is still available. Use the sections below to find holiday care options and learn where to go for same-day or urgent care needs.
Emergency care
For serious or life-threatening medical emergencies, help is always available.
UI Health Care emergency departments are open 24/7 year-round. If you're experiencing severe symptoms or feel your life is at risk, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

Early closures to plan for
In addition to holiday closures, some medical offices may close early on the following days each year:
- Friday after Thanksgiving
- Christmas Eve
- New Year's Eve
Early closures may also occur when a holiday falls mid-week or near a weekend.
