Your appointment
If you make any changes to your insurance before your appointment please call Registration at 1-866-309-0832. This will help lessen delays and prevent you from having to reschedule your test.
You will check in at the place written on your appointment letter.

Getting ready for your test
Before your test, tell your doctor or nurse if you are:
- Pregnant or think you may be pregnant
- Diabetic
- Allergic to contrast dye or iodine, Be sure to tell your doctor about these allergies before the day of your test. They may have you take the medicine the night before and morning of your test.
You may need to have blood drawn if you:
- Are over 60 years of age
- Have diabetes
- Have kidney problems
- Have medical problems that affect how your kidneys work
If you have had blood drawn recently you may bring those results with you.
Food
- Do not eat, drink carbonated drinks, or smoke for two hours before your test.
- Do not drink anything for one hour before your test.
- Be sure to drink clear liquids, such as water, tea, broth, or apple juice before that time so you do not get dehydrated.
- If you have any other test today where you are told not to eat or drink for a longer amount of time, follow those instructions.
Medicine
- You may take all of your prescriptions medicines up until one hour before your test.
Driving
You will need somebody to drive you home after your test if you:
- Have a biopsy
- Are you given pre-medicines for an allergy, such as Benadryl
- Are given medicines to help you relax during the test
If you are unable to do any of the prep listed above you may not be able to have the test or it may need to be rescheduled.
What to expect
The test will take at least one hour but can take up to several hours. You may also need a little extra time to recover after the test as well.
After the test
If you have diabetes and are taking Metformin (Glucophage), Glucovance Avandamet, Metaglip, Glumetza®, Riomet®, Actoplus Met®, Prandimet®, Kombiglyze, Janumet,
Appformin, Fortamet, do not take it for two days (48 hours) after the test. Talk to your doctor about how to manage your diabetes during this time.
Talk with your nurse, doctor, or pharmacist if you do not know if your medicine has Metformin in it.
