The University of Iowa Health Care opened the new UI Health Care–Quad Cities–Kidney Transplant Clinic at 865 Lincoln Road in Bettendorf, Iowa, this summer—a significant advantage to kidney transplant patients in eastern Iowa and western Illinois. The clinic operates from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the third Friday of every month and is currently accepting new patients.
With the opening of this clinic, select patients have the opportunity to reschedule their initial evaluations for kidney transplants and receive regular re-assessments in a location close to home.
As with services offered in Iowa City, patients at this clinic will be evaluated by members of the UI Health Care transplant team—a transplant surgeon, nephrologist, social worker, financial counselor, and transplant coordinator—from Iowa's only multi-organ transplant center.
"We are excited for the opportunity to expand our services," said Alan Reed, MD, MBA, Professor of Surgery, and Director of the University of Iowa Organ Transplant Center. "This clinic allows us to better serve our patients by offering appointments in a more convenient location, reducing time spent traveling and patient cost."
Patient referrals to the clinic can be made by calling 877-386-9108.
Transplant procedures will continue to be performed at the University of Iowa Organ Transplant Center in Iowa City.
