About

"I decided to become an infectious disease specialist because I saw many people die of infections growing up in India. I knew this didn't have to be the case if we were able to educate patients about risk factors for infections. If despite this patients do get infected, my training allows me to be able to quickly diagnose and treat patients and in most cases to cure infections. There aren't too many specialties in medicine where treatment is curative and that is something I enjoy about my specialty." — Poorani Sekar
