About Our Patient Experience Surveys and Provider Ratings
About patient experience surveys and their importance
Like many academic medical centers and hospitals across the country, we work with Press Ganey, an independent health care organization that helps us collect information about patient satisfaction that we use to continually improve the patient experience.
Following an encounter, a patient may be contacted by mail, email, or text message and asked to complete a survey about their care experience.
Every survey submitted makes an impact on our organization. Each survey is sent to Press Ganey, and then Press Ganey shares the results with us so we can learn from your responses and comments.
About provider ratings and comments
You have a choice in doctors. Wouldn’t it be great to know what other patients thought about their care experiences before you book an appointment? You can make a better-informed decision using our star ratings and patient comments.
The Care Provider section of our outpatient survey is composed of five standard survey questions. Patients rank each response on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the most favorable response.
These responses are used to create the provider star rating you see on our website for each provider. The star rating is the average of all responses for that provider.
Our provider star ratings take into account patient feedback from over 300,000 completed surveys. Because of this, patients can feel confident that these ratings will help them make informed decisions when choosing a provider.
Why doesn't my provider have ratings?
In this case, your provider has not yet received the minimum number of survey results. To provide our patients and visitors with the most accurate and useful information, we only post star ratings when 30 or more patients have completed a survey. Please consider filling out a survey after your next visit. This will help us ensure they are represented in our star ratings and will help other patients make informed decisions.
