Inspired by living and traveling abroad, Sara Lindberg’s work combines vibrant colors and animals to create whimsical scenes using screen printing and cut paper. Her playful characterization creates uplifting depictions of lambs, elephants, rabbits, birds, and flowers. A heart or sun motif is also found within Sara’s designs.
A longtime resident of Iowa City, Lindberg took drawing and painting classes at the UI School of Art and Art History where she began exploring design ideas inspired by the folk art of northern and eastern Europe. Her time living with family for extended periods in Australia, New Zealand, Denmark and the Netherlands informed her art practice. The visual influence of travel is often incorporated into the details and subjects of her work. Lindberg’s artworks all share the same vibrant colors and use of whimsical detail sure to bring a smile to her audience. Many of her works are now in the permanent collection and on display throughout UI Health Care at many different locations.
