Lucy Chisler is currently a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow at the University of Iowa Health Care. While in medical school, Chisler found a creative outlet in creating valentines, noting the visual component helped with her studies. She drew most of them each year in the weeks leading up to Valentine's Day and sold them to her classmates. All funds raised went to Seeds of Recovery, a non-profit supporting people in West Virginia undergoing treatment for opioid use disorder, and the ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) Association of West Virginia.
Art has always played a significant role in Lucy Chisler's life. She has a deep passion for fiber arts, particularly quilting. Origami is another of her cherished interests. During Chisler's time as a psych tech after college, she dedicated her time to learning and teaching origami to the teens in her unit. One of Chisler's proudest accomplishments is winning a blue ribbon at the West Virginia State Fair for an origami piece she created.
