Since 1839, Iowa City and its surrounding corridor have been defined by dynamic landscapes and iconic landmarks. Explore depictions of this vibrant community through the lens, pen, and brush of Iowa's own artists, as represented in the UI Health Care permanent collection.
In 2021, Project Art embarked on a redesign of its educational displays throughout the hospital facilities. Historic Art Speak labels, which focused on the artist and their training, were replaced with new Art Note labels, as modeled throughout this exhibit.
Mounted adjacent to the artworks, the Art Note labels focus on the pieces themselves, the context of the work and the artist's intentions behind its creation. Now, the viewer can engage more deeply with the piece and approach it with a robust knowledge base. As of May 2025, 103 Art Note labels have been installed throughout UI Health Care.
