My favorite thing about my job is that I get to work with children and families and interact with trainees to help them gain knowledge to practice pediatric medicine in the future. I joined UI because it is a large academic institution with opportunities for learning and practicing state-of-the-art medicine. I like working with children because they are resilient, and I feel honored and privileged to help families when their loved ones are not feeling well. University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital has a great working environment with a lot of focus on patient safety and making the families feel comfortable when they visit the children's hospital and associated clinics. I spend a significant amount of time doing clinical research. I am inspired to discover better diagnostic and treatment methods for children with gastrointestinal disorders and share the new medical knowledge with colleagues within the institution and beyond to serve better the families who seek help from us when their children are not doing well.
