CHSC provides gap-filling clinical care, health assessments, care coordination, and family to family support for Iowa's Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs and their families.
The foundation of CHSC's funding comes from the Title V Maternal and Child Block grant, part of the 1935 Social Security Act.
Each state receives a "block" of funding to improve the health, safety, and well-being from all mothers and children. CHSC administers Iowa's Title V Program in partnership with the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services.
CHSC Program and Services

The Iowa Regional Autism Assistance Program (RAP) provides community-based clinical consultation, multidisciplinary care planning recommendations, and family to family support for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families.
RAP team members use standardized tools to identify children at risk for ASD and help families find diagnostic services and community-based supports. RAP also provides technical assistance and training on evidence-based screening and assessment tools to medical home early intervention community providers.
ARNPs provide developmental and behavioral screenings and assessments, mental health care, medication management, and other clinical supports.
CHSC also provides access to pediatric specialists through telehealth.
They work with families to provide emotional support, systems navigation, and connections to community resources.
